Speed controls in Saarland: These routes are affected!

In the coming week, speed controls will be increasingly on the plan in the coming week. The police have announced that between 14 and 20 October 2024 to carry out controls in different regions of the federal state. The aim of these measures is to reduce the number of accidents on particularly endangered road sections and increase traffic safety. This is a clear indication that the police are of great importance to traffic safety.

The controls are strategically distributed over different days and will take place in different locations in Saarland. The selection of the checkpoints is based on the frequency and severity of traffic accidents in these areas. In addition to the planned operations, spontaneous controls are not excluded.

planned checkpoints

  • On Monday, October 14th, controls will take place on the BAB 620 between the Saarbrücken and Saarlouis junctions, as well as on the B 405 in Wallerfangen and the B 406 between Sinz and Oberleuken.
  • Tuesday, October 15, the BAB 623 is monitored between the Friedrichsthal and Dudweiler junctions. Further controls are new on the B 269 and the L 253 in Kleinblittersdorf to the national border are planned.
  • On Wednesday, October 16, the B 268 in Losheim is checked, as is the BAB 1 between the Eppelborn exit and the Nonnweiler junction.
  • The controls continue on Thursday, October 17th, whereby the BAB 620 at the Bismarck Bridge and the BAB 623 between Dudweiler and Friedrichsthal are targeted.
  • On Friday, October 18, the B 41 between Neunkirchen and Ottweiler as well as the L 157 in Weiskirchen and St. Ingbert are on the list of checkpoints.
  • The Saturday, October 19, brings controls on the B 51, which extend from the national border to France to Saarbrücken.
  • on Sunday, October 20, the B 51 between Saarhölzbach and Merzig as well as the L 111 between St. Ingbert and Blieskastel is monitored.

The police emphasize that these measures not only serve to control road users, but also to have a preventive effect. By announcing the controls, one hopes that drivers adjust their speed and thus contribute to safety on the streets.

The specified checkpoints are only a subset of the possible monitoring measures. In addition, unexpected controls can also take place, and in certain cases, planned operations can be omitted for various reasons.

This procedure is part of a more comprehensive plan to improve traffic safety in Saarland. The police strive to reduce the number of traffic accidents and to sensitize road users to the dangers in road traffic. This is particularly important because the frequency of accident in certain areas gives rise to concern.
