Alcoholic driver in Dahlem-Schmidtheim causes excitement

Dahlem-Schmidtheim. On the evening of November 19, an incident occurred in Dahlem-Schmidtheim, which put the police authority on alert. At 9:04 p.m., a witness noticed a suspicious vehicle on the main street, which drove through the village without switched on. This was particularly noticeable because a car endangers traffic safety in such a critical situation.

The driver, a 63-year-old woman from Dahlem, finally parked in the middle of the street to reach for replenishment at a cigarette machine. The attentive witness, worried about the traffic situation, spoke to the woman, which led to the fact that she immediately left the place. Their behavior aroused the suspicion that they might be under the influence of alcohol.

alcohol consumption in road traffic

The police officers were quickly on site and were able to meet the woman at her home address. A strong breath of breath alcohol was found there. A voluntary breath alcohol test revealed the worrying result of 2.36 per thousand. This corresponds to much more than the permitted limit for driving a vehicle that is 0.5 per thousand in Germany.

As part of the investigation, the woman was brought to the police station in Schleiden, where a blood sample was taken from her. The police have now launched a process of drunk in traffic against the driver. This shows not only the dangers of alcohol consumption when driving, but also the responsibility of the citizens to pay attention to suspicious behavior in road traffic. Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon and illustrate the challenges that the police authorities are facing.

The district police authority Euskirchen has published a press release after this incident to point out the problem of alcohol at the wheel and to sensitize the population to this important topic. These types of incidents can have serious consequences, not only for the drivers themselves, but also for other road users.
