New cycle and sidewalk opened in Klosterneuburg- more security for pedestrians!
A new milestone for mobility in Klosterneuburg: On December 2, 2024, the walking and cycle path along the state road B 14 was officially released. This ceremonial opening took place between the "Schauengasse" and the "Feldgasse" in Kierling. Mayor Christoph Kaufmann (ÖVP) and Andreas Spanring, the state manager of the FPÖ Niederösterreich, were present in representation of LH deputy Udo Landbauer. The new cycle and sidewalk has been used since school and represents a significant expansion of the local bicycle traffic network.
The construction work that took around four months was carried out by Pittel + Brausewetter GmbH and cost around 1.1 million euros. The financing was taken over by Land Lower Austria, while the rest of the amount was borne by the municipality. The section is part of the "three-valley cycling concept", which is to link the districts of Maria Gugging, Kierling and Weidling with the city center of Klosterneuburg and the Danube Cycle Path, reported Klosterneuburg.at .
improved security and design
The structural separation of the bike path from the road, which is intended to increase the safety of road users, is particularly noteworthy. A total of 670 meters of new path were created, with the road width of the B 14 reduced from eight to 6.50 meters to make room for the bike path. In addition, new and wider sidewalks and modernized bus stops will significantly improve the situation for pedestrians and users of public transport. Changes also include progress in landscape design, such as the replacement of an old tree avenue through climate -resistant trees and the enlargement of the green areas along the route, such as meinzirk.at reported.Details | |
