Scandal on the HTL Mödling: Director Sauerzopf steps back!

The headmaster of HTL Mödling, Hannes Sauerzopf, surprisingly laid down all of his functions today. This was confirmed by the Lower Austria Education Directorate. The withdrawal of Sauer braid is in the context of a serious financial affair, in which up to half a million euros have disappeared in connection with the support association of the educational institution. In particular, the school community is concerned about the effects of the affair on the student home and the 150 students living there.

To ensure the management of HTL Mödling during this delicate matter, the Federal Ministry has appointed a provisional director: Werner Kern will now take over the school's business. A few days ago, the focus was on the financial situation of the association, which registered insolvency in January. A bankruptcy proceedings at the Wiener Neustadt regional court were opened on January 22nd.

Investigations and allegations

The investigation into the financial scandal at HTL Mödling is carried out by the State Criminal Police Authority of Lower Austria and the Wiener Neustadt public prosecutor's office. A former administrative officer who has been suspended is suspected of the infidelity, while Sauer braid is only witness in this cause. Insiders say that the school management and the team were completely uninformed by the financial irregularities.

In a further step, the NEOS National Council MP Martina Künsberg Sarre made a parliamentary request to the former Minister of Education Martin Polaschek. This request includes 13 detail questions and aims to clarify the knowledge of the school management and the educational directorate about the irregularities in the club. Künsberg Sarre expects that answers to your questions will be delivered by April 11 at the latest, especially with regard to the public funds used and the possible effects on the teaching and learning conditions on HTL Mödling.
