Together strong: Fire Brigade Velm and Mödling save combine harvesters
In a remarkable commitment to the Mödling fire brigade, there was recently an extraordinary vehicle recovery in Velm, a place in the Baden district. The Velm fire brigade had requested support after a combine harvester got stuck in a field. The reason for this was a previous flood that had significantly affected the ground conditions of the field.
The combine harvester had stuck in part of the field, the soil of which had changed from stable structure to soft earth. After the crane team of the Mödling volunteer fire brigade was on the spot, it turned out that rescue was not possible with a simple hub with the crane. The vehicle was in the middle of the field, and the Maquinaria could not be used due to the unstable soil quality.
complex rescue measures
In view of this challenge, the team began to substruct the machine. For this purpose, wood was used from a crane contamination container to create a stable surface for the hub using hydraulic spreader. This work required precise coordination, as an excavator and a tractor with front loaders were available for support. The VELM fire brigade also organized a trailer with track gravel to ensure additional stability. The close cooperation between the two fire brigades could finally be raised. The track gravel was then brought under the machine, which proved to be a decisive step. Thanks to these carefully planned and executed measures, it finally managed to free the combine harvester with the help of the tractor and the excavator from its low location.
This assignment not only shows the professionalism and teamwork of the local fire brigade, but also illustrates how unexpected weather events can influence agriculture. The ability to act quickly and efficiently is indispensable for firefighters, especially in complex situations in which every minute counts.
