Fight for remaining league: Waidhofen and Gmünd in the basement duel
Fight for remaining league: Waidhofen and Gmünd in the basement duel
An exciting weekend is imminent in the 2nd Landesliga West, where the view of the lower placements is directed. The encounter between Waidhofen/Thaya and Gmünd is not only a long -awaited meeting of the two Waldviertel clubs since 2011, but also a decisive duel between the penultimate and the last of the table. Both teams are desperately fighting for points to keep their chances of staying in the class.
The situation for Waidhofen/Thaya is tense, because after an initial success against the Amstetten amateurs, eight defeats in a row followed, most recently even against Haitzendorf. The club only scored three points in nine games, which makes the situation more than tense. Gmünd has even more difficult because in eight games they could only score a point that was booked in the catch -up game in Absdorf.
a clear goal in mind
coach Patrick Wunsch from Waidhofen makes it clear that his team absolutely needs the victory: "Of course we have to win." Gmünd's sports director Markus Fürlinger is aware of urgency and says: "Losing is prohibited anyway!" It shows that both teams understand only too well how important this game is for them.
In Waidhofen, however, there are some personnel bottlenecks. While Gmünd is expected to have all players available, the hosts have to do without Deniz Saritas and Aleksandar Dimic. Wolfgang Mühlberger's participation is also questionable. The kick -off for this decisive duel is on Friday at 7.30 p.m.
Another important fight in the league takes place at the same time, because Seitenstetten, currently still unbeaten and in third place in the table, receives Purgstall. The coach of Seitenstetten, Peter Thaller, is pleased with the previous success of his young team and hopes for further points against Purgstall. The latter coach, Hans Jürgen Moser, knows about the challenge and plans to neutralize the strengths of Seitenstetten.
On Friday evening at 8 p.m. there will also be a meeting between SG Großweikersdorf/Wiesendorf and Eggenburg. Großweikersdorf fought its way onto the top ranks with her victories, while Eggenburg goes into the game with confidence after a recent success. An exciting game also takes place on Saturday when Lilienfeld competes against Absdorf, with Lilienfeld being optimistic after a victorious appearance.
In addition, there is a game between Oed/Zeillern and Rohrendorf on Saturday. Rohrendorf has to try to find the road to success again after you have recently put three defeats in a row. On the same day, the Amstettner amateurs and Würmla face each other, whereby Würmla would also like to find on track after some difficulties recently after the flood.
Fans can also look forward to a Saturday evening game if SV Haitzendorf receives the SC Melk team. Haitzendorf is currently in impressive form and has recently kidnapped three points from Waidhofen. In contrast, Melk has to work on her defensive, as you are currently only lingering in eleventh place and have lost their last four games.
In this exciting and competitive league, every point is crucial, and the upcoming games promise interesting encounters and important decisions for the teams in the relegation battle. The fans are invited to support their teams and look forward to exciting football moments.
