The encounter between Waidhofen/Thaya and Gmünd is not only a long -awaited meeting of the two Waldviertel clubs since 2011, but also a decisive duel between the penultimate and the last of the table. Both teams are desperately fighting for points to keep their chances of staying in the class.

The situation for Waidhofen/Thaya is tense, because after an initial success against the Amstetten amateurs, eight defeats in a row followed, most recently even against Haitzendorf.
