Krems honors creative talents with Erich Grabner Prize 2024

Last Thursday there was a remarkable ceremony in the Dominican church of Krems: Erich Grabner Prize for Artistic Graphics was awarded. This price, which was first advertised in 2024, quickly developed into an important event for the art scene in Austria.

The city of Krems organized this competition and there were an impressive number of 450 applications from artists: inside from all over the country. A jury chose 70 artistic works that are currently exhibited under the title "Paper Unlimited" in the museum bar. This exhibition presents a wonderful variety of contemporary graphics and gives deeper insights into the current art scene.

At Erich Grabner's award ceremony, the prices were awarded in a total of four categories, based on jury reviews. Interestingly, the visitors decided: on the inside of the exhibition also about an audience award by voting their favorite works of art. The jury consisted of well -known experts: inside, including Elisabeth Dutz from Albertina in Vienna and Gregor Kremser, head of the City of Krems.

The winners were officially announced during the ceremonial ceremony. The jury awarded the main prizes to Oswald Auer, Leonhard Lorenz Knabl, Ernst Lima and Alexandra Kontriner. In addition, the audience award, donated by friends Erich Grabners, was awarded to Marianne Lang.

Krems as an art location

Mayor Peter Molnar was enthusiastic about the results and emphasized that Erich Grabner Prize for Krems raises an important location for contemporary art. The large number of submissions and the lively participation in the exhibition "Paper Unlimited" show a strong interest in graphic art. Molnar also announced that the next tender for Erich Grabner Prize will take place in spring 2026.
