Herbert Egger: A life's work of geodesy in Langenlois is retired
After 46 years of successful work as a surveyor in Langenlois, Herbert Egger is now retiring. The 82-year-old is a well-known personality in the region who appeals to many people. "When I drive around the area, I keep seeing places to which I have a personal relationship," he explains with a nostalgic smile.
Egger has been running his own office on Kremser Strasse since 1978 and has built up a permanent team of employees who have remained loyal to him for over 20 years. Despite the upcoming retirement, he gives a consistently positive record of his professional career. He emphasizes that there were rarely disagreements with his customers. "It is important to offer solutions, especially with controversial basic limits," says Egger, who does not hesitate to say that one often has an "almost judicial function" in his job. The dispute over property boundaries is one of the challenges that he and his team have successfully mastered.
A look back at a long career
gger's commitment as a surveyor was not only limited to his office; He also worked as an expert and textbook author. In addition, he worked as a teacher at the HTL Krems for over 30 years. Even if he is retiring, he won't get bored. "I would like a quiet retirement with my wife Margarete," he says, adding that he continues to work actively in the Kiwanis Club Krems-Wachau.
The responsibility he took over during his career is also carried by his successor Dominik Mesner. He took over the management of Schubert, which was taken over by the St. Pöltner company, in Langenlois. Mesner emphasizes the importance of the activity: "We belong to the 'local suppliers', together with the administration and the emergency. Objectivity and trust are essential in our profession, since we are often faced with personal concerns."
The future of the surveying office
The takeover of the office was carried out with the best intentions to ensure that the bourgeois community in Langenlois will continue to be well looked after. Egger is confident that his team under Mesner's leadership will maintain the high ethical responsibility associated with the profession. "I am grateful for the time I had and look optimistically at the future of the office," Egger concludes his personal assessment.
In a time when tradition and experience are estimated, Egger's career shows how important responsible work is in areas such as measurement. For a detailed view of the case, See the report on www.noen.at .
