Large theft series: Police hold Czech quartet for 102 acts
An attentive eye led to the arrest of four people who are said to be involved in a number of 102 crimes in Lower and Upper Austria. These arrests resulted in total damage of almost 407,000 euros. According to the police, it is a quartet from the Czech Republic that mainly e-bikes, bicycles, motorcycles and mopeds from underground garages and basement compartments.
The group, consisting of three men and a woman, was brought to the Krems prison. While two of the accused have already confessed, the other two deny the deeds, which made the investigation further difficult. Only this year, on March 20, an attentive witness in Vitis (Waidhofen district on the Thaya district) ensured that the police worked. She noticed a vehicle with Czech approval that transported motorcycles in the direction of the Czech Republic, which had previously been stolen in Traismauer (St. Pölten-Land district).
Investigations and arrests
A second meeting with the accused took place on March 25th when the vehicle with trailer on the Mühlviertler expressway (S10) was discovered before Freistadt. There were a motorcycle and two mountain bikes that had been stolen in Linz. The driver, a 37-year-old Czech, and his partner were arrested on site. The subsequent investigation and the evaluation of cell phone data led to numerous other thefts that are accused of the two accused.
The group's crime statistics are remarkable: a total of 58 thefts of e-bikes and bicycles as well as 27 of motorcycles and mopeds have been detected. In addition, seven sets of cars of cars and five car trailers were also stolen. The damage amount is around 406,634 euros. Motorcycles and car trailers seized in the Czech Republic were returned to the lawful owners.
