Grete Karner: A life of life full of challenges and 100 years of joie de vivre
In a tranquil location in Großgraben, there was recently an event to be happy: Grete Karner celebrated her 100th birthday. The jubilee, once from Kirchberg on the Pielach, has lived in Großgraben since 1954. Originally she worked as a kindergarten teacher, but soon found her way to the catering trade. Together with her husband Josef, who worked at Newag, she conducted the inn of her parents -in -law and successfully managed it. Her sons Josef and Gerhard were born in 1954 and 1959.
Grete Karner looks back on an eventful life. She lost her father to lung cancer at the young age of 46, while the Second World War and the post -war period gave her life a severe note. Despite these challenges, she was always challenged in her role as a landlady, although she was not only there for her guests, but was also valued as a soul flower. An important part of her life was to enable your sons to have a good training. Both visited the HAK in Krems and later studied what Grete fulfilled with great pride, said her son Josef Karner.
a life full of challenges
The last few years of Grete Karner's active career only started at the age of 73 when she retired. She only experienced the sea for the first time at the age of 75. She used the time after retirement to take excursions with her husband. The loss of her husband in 2003 was a deep cut into her life, as well as the loss of her five siblings, all of whom became over 90 years old.
currently, Grete Karner continues to live in her home in Großgraben, despite the health challenges that old age entails. She is looked after by two Slovak nurses, for whom her son expresses great thanks and appreciation. "Your loving care is priceless and should find special recognition," emphasizes Josef Karner. He also emphasizes the valuable support of the relief organization, which supports the nursing staff once a week.
Grete Karner's round birthday was celebrated in a small, family round in the dining room of the former inn, which she once led. Pastor Franz Dangl, who congratulated the jubilee, was among the well -wishers.
