FC Rohrendorf wins a convincing 3-0 win against SC Gmünd
An exciting match in the 2nd Regional League West recently took place in Krems, where FC Rohrendorf beat SC Gmünd 3-0. The hosts were able to score decisive points in the relegation battle. This was a setback for the Gmünder team, who slipped back into the lower regions of the table as a result of the defeat.
The game started relatively evenly, but it quickly became clear that FC Rohrendorf was more active. Rohrendorf hit the crossbar in the 24th minute, which demonstrated their superiority in the game. Despite the efforts, the first half remained goalless, which was not least due to the guests' solid defense, which fought back bravely.
Upswing in the second half
The second period of the game brought a drastic turning point. Already in the 47th minute, Jannick Schibany found Rohrendorf's lead after a precise free kick from the right side. Schibany showed strong nerves and completed the cross accurately. This goal seemed to be the start of a series of chances.
Just eight minutes later, it was Schibany who defended Gmünder again by striking with ease after another pass on the left side and sinking the ball into the net to make it 2-0. The guests' belief in a turnaround quickly faded when Holl landed the next blow for Rohrendorf four minutes later and extended the lead to 3-0. This increased the pressure on SC Gmünd, which struggled to respond.
In the remaining time, the Gmünders found no significant chance to reduce the deficit. It wasn't until the 83rd minute that they managed a dangerous shot, but it hit the crossbar. Finally, after 94 minutes, the referee sealed the deserved 3-0 win for FC Rohrendorf. With this strong performance, the Rohrendorfers show that they are ready to fight for relegation in the league, while SC Gmünd now finds itself in 14th place in the table.
