New police training in Korneuburg: Former asylum quarters revitalized!

Raiffeisenstraße 4, 2100 Korneuburg, Österreich - A shutdown asylum quarters in Korneuburg will be converted into a new police training center from 2025. The former location on Raiffeisenstrasse, which has not been in operation since September 2024, is ideally used to train special units such as the Wiener Use Group in Alarm Department (WEGA) and the fast intervention groups (SIG). This was confirmed by Federal Police Director Michael Takacs, who noted that such exercise objects are of great importance but are difficult to find. The central location near Vienna makes the area particularly attractive for training sessions, such as Noen.at

As part of a large -scale exercise, it has already been impressively demonstrated what the police officers can expect in the future. A police helicopter and drones monitored the exercise in which heavily armed units stormed a building of the former refugee home. The training simulated an armed robbery with several perpetrators that withdraw into the empty building. Various elite units were in use, and thanks to a police dog, two perpetrators could be caught. In the future it is planned that the different special units will train from Monday to Friday under realistic conditions, which will lead to a permanent presence of police forces in the region, as korneuburg.gv.at

The decision to convert the site was after the discussion -intensive negotiations, and Mayor Christian Gepp expressed his satisfaction about this quick and positive decision. The premises are continuously adapted to the training needs and should be used all year round, even at night - but without sharp shots, as Takacs emphasized. The site has developed from a former accommodation for minor refugees to a strategic training center for the police.
