New Gymnasium Gerasdorf: insights into the exciting school life
In September, an exciting new trip began at the Gerasdorf grammar school for many students. Now, after half a year, both teachers and students can look back on numerous exciting experiences. The team around the educational direction of Katharina Auer-Leszkovics has set itself the task of offering the students a personal and supportive environment that is shaped by individual care.
The school offers a varied offer of teaching that not only gives the students knowledge but also fun. Some special projects have been carried out in the past few months. This includes various art projects, sporting challenges both inside and outside and an exciting station operation in biology. A highlight was also the Halloween readerally in the library, which should not only promote reading fun, but also strengthened teamwork among the students.
a day of discoveries
The school community experienced a special day at the open day on November 8th. Numerous parents and future students came here, especially from elementary school, to find out about the offers of the new high school. The interest was great, which shows that the school is becoming more important in the region.
The focus of the new school is in the area of MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) as well as in environmental and ecology issues. Auer-Leszkovics emphasizes that targeted projects, such as regular research days, are intended to promote the curiosity of the students on MINT subjects. The first research day that takes place at the Veterinary University in January will offer the students an exciting insight into the world of natural sciences.
A particularly impressive experience was the active day in the Thayatal National Park in October. Here the young people had the opportunity to master various tasks in nature, with the construction of a large tipis in the forest as an unforgettable highlight. Auer-Leszkovics emphasizes that such events not only strengthen the feeling of community, but also bring important experiences for the personal development of the students.
Overall, the school management is satisfied with the previous course of the school year. "Fortunately, the first few weeks went well, the school building was fulfilled with life and both students and teachers feel comfortable in their new high school," said Auer-Leszkovics. These positive feedback indicates that the Gerasdorf grammar school quickly establishes itself as a place of learning and shared growing.
