FPÖ candidate Lausch shines with 3,437 preferred votes in the Weinviertel

The recent election victory of the freedoms in the Weinviertel region caused a stir. Christian Lausch, the reigning Member of the National Council, was able to look forward to impressive 3,437 preferred votes on the party's election evening. It is particularly noteworthy that he was only exceeded by Andreas Minnich from the ÖVP from Korneuburg, which even received 4,665 preferred votes.

Lausch, who also took sixth place on the state list, also collected 160 preferred votes from there and 72 votes from the federal list. In total, this results in a proud 3,669 preferred votes, a considerable success for the Ziersdorfer and his party.

Challenges for the ÖVP

The competition was strong, especially for the ÖVP. Marlis Schmidt, the top candidate for the district, was unable to convince with only 2,719 votes and 140 votes from the state list, on which she took 14th place. The loss of the direct mandate for the ÖVP represents a considerable setback, especially since her predecessor, Eva-Maria Himmelbauer, has left Parliament.

In comparison, the SPÖ, represented by the Göllersdorfer Stefan Hinterberger, scored 576 preferred votes and also 95 more from the state list. The behavior of the voters also shows that the campaigners from SPÖ and FPÖ have put a strong focus on citizens' interests.

Greens and Neos in the upswing

Another exciting result came from the Greens. Sabine Fasching, who comes from Hollabrunn, achieved 376 preferred votes and even overtook the Greens' constituency candidate, René Zehner, who received only 272 votes. Fasching has thus established itself as a prominent voice in the constituency and received an additional 43 votes from the state list and 16 from the federal list.

The NEOs were also actively present in the constituency, but rather in a single fighter role: Jürgen Margetich started the race as a single candidate from Furth with 33 preferred votes. The turnout at the NEOS shows that they too are in the interest of the voters and want to get involved.

The preferred votes distribution in the constituency is as follows:
