Schwäbisch Gmünd theater workshop: The wave brings important lessons

In the Theaterwerkstatt Schwäbisch Gmünd, the premiere of the play "The Welle" was celebrated, which was well staged by a group of young actors. With full enthusiasm, 14 young people brought the story onto the stage, in which they, as a student of a teacher's social experiment, had to experience the dynamics of autocracy and community spirit played by Pat Mueller. The spectators were tied up from the start when the actors express their dissatisfaction with boring school life and finally get involved in the movement "Die Welle" initiated by the teacher.

The performance conveys an important message about the dangers that are in blind obedience and group compulsion. Until there is a dramatic incident that costs a student life, the development of history becomes increasingly intense, which stimulates the audience to think. Expressively and emotionally presented, the piece illustrates the timeless relevance of the topic, which is still important today.

a lesson that is still valid

The successful adaptation of the work, which originally dates from the 1980s, was specifically revised by Lia Kerner and Pauline Kautnik for today. The staging, led by Claudia Steiner and Pat Müller, allows the younger generation to integrate critical lessons over power structures and human behavior. The spectators left the hall thoughtfully, reflectively about the possibility that similar social experiments could also occur in today's world

donation for young theater talents

The audience paid the young actors at the end of the performance and long applause. Christian Siller, a supporter of Pat Mueller's projects, presented a donation of 500 euros for the theater group as a sign of appreciation to promote their future work.

Further performances of the piece "Die Welle" are planned for the days 5th, 6th, 19th, 23rd and 24th of October, 2023, each at 7:30 p.m. in the Schwäbisch Gmünd theater workshop. Tickets are available via the i-point and can be reserved at tourist-info@schwaebisch-gmuend.de or by phone at 07171/4250. School inquiries can be sent directly to gmueller@gmuender-vhs.de.

The successful premiere not only shows the commitment of the young talents, but also the importance of creating critical topics of society in a creative way. The piece suggests thinking about one's own actions and dynamics in communities.
