Schwäbisch Gmünd will be the scene of a very special event again on Friday, October 4: the annual festival "Music in Gmünder pubs". At 8 p.m. the celebration is opened in various restaurants in the city, in which 23 bands and DJs will create good music and exuberant atmosphere.
The festival has a long history. It took place for the first time from 1991 to 1994 as part of the Gmünder stripes before it became independent from 1995. In the early days, 23 music groups had already been active in 20 restaurants. During the event series you could experience many well -known bands, including the "Swany Feet Warmers", which were always there until they were dissolved in 2019.
The course for the future
In recent years, however, it has been shown that the number of participating restaurants has decreased. "Corona pandemic also left significant traces in our industry," explains Robert Frank from Touristik und Marketing GmbH in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Despite these setbacks, the organizers, Dominik and David Spiller, are optimistic that they can convince the hosts again.The festival differs from similar events in other cities because it is completely free. For many music fans, this is one more reason to visit the "pub music" in Schwäbisch Gmünd. "Admission is not required, that makes us unique and attractive," adds Frank.

The city itself is actively committed to the festival and offers the participating innkeepers financial support in the form of a fee grant of 200 euros. "We are thinking about increasing this grant in the future," says Frank. Another incentive for the bands to appear in Gmünd is the prestige that is connected to the appearance in the city. Many artists consider it an honor to take part in this special event.
Overall, it remains to be seen how the event will develop in the future.
