Opening of the four-group kindergarten in Deutsch-Wagram inspires families

The four-group kindergarten in Ferdinand Freiligrath-Gasse in Deutsch-Wagram was opened. The municipality of Deutsch-Wagram previously operated a total of 20 kindergarten groups at eight locations. The opening of the new kindergarten was seen as an important project for the families of the region. The family councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister praised the municipality and thanked Mayor Ulla Mühl-Hittinger and her team for her investment in expanding childcare. The state of Lower Austria supported the construction of the kindergarten with an interest promotion of over one million euros. As part of the “Blau-Gelben childcare offensive”, the state of Lower Austria, together with the municipalities, invests a total of 750 million euros in the expansion of childcare by 2027.

According to a monitoring report of the statistics Austria for the school year 2023/24, the success of the childcare offensive is shown in concrete numbers. Lower Austria achieves a higher value for the under-3 year olds with a visiting rate of 36.3% than the Austrian average of 34.9% and the Barcelona goal of 33%. For the 3-5-year-olds, the visiting quota in Lower Austria is also above the Barcelona destination of 96% and leads the federal state ranking with 98.3%. In the categories of 2, 3- and 4-year-olds, Lower Austria with the highest care rates took first place in the federal state comparison. A total of around 615 new childcare groups are planned by 2027.

The opening of the four-group kindergarten in Deutsch-Wagram is an important step in expanding childcare in the region. The investment of the state of Lower Austria and the municipality of Deutsch-Wagram will help families receive high-quality care for their children.
