Patrick Mayer, an emerging rally driver from Rannersdorf, has achieved overwhelming success in the world of mountain racing this year. The driver, who had previously been a multiple state champion in the slalom, decided to immerse yourself in the exciting discipline of the mountain race and thus realized a dream that has been accompanying him since childhood.

his journey into the mountain race began when he went to the mountain racing routes with his father at the age of three. "I knew that one day I would go with me," said Mayer proudly. In 2023, he took part in the Austrian Bergrallye Cup and in the domestic mountain state championship to get to know the routes better and be equipped for the next season.

With his reliable VW Golf I 16V, Mayer drove the other drivers away in his class. In seven races, all of which took place in Styria, he demonstrated his driving skills. He won six of these races, including the season finale in Markt Hartmannsdorf. In the overall classification of class 3b, Mayer, who starts for ASV Bruck, prevailed against his competitors: his team -mate Andreas Miletich, who took a Renault Clio, ended up in second place, followed by Markus Gruber from Styria in third place with a Skoda Fabia Evo.

But not only in the Bergrallye Cup it went well for the 38-year-old. He also took an excellent place in the Mountain State Championship, which was held in several European countries such as Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany and Slovenia. Although he was only a few points behind the mountain cup winner, his success remains undisputed. "I am proud of my achievements this year and fully motivated for the next challenges," added Mayer.

Without their support, all of this would not have been possible," he said. This recognition shows the close community that prevails in motorsport and how important teamwork is for success.
