The big bird train: Kraniche & Co. on the way to the south
In the current year, millions of migratory birds move south. The bird species from the breeding areas in our northern regions set out on the long way to spend the winter in a warmer climate. The nature conservation association (NABU) reported that birds from the north, which take a break, are now racing in food -rich wetlands such as Lake Constance.
These birds have different train behavior. While some travel in large groups, others make their way together with family members or even alone. The path they travel can be hundreds to thousands of kilometers until they end up in countries such as France, Spain or in African areas.
renatured habitats and their advantages
The return of the migratory birds has a lot to do with the renewal of wetlands, fluids and bogs. Through this renaturation, the birds, such as the majestic cranes, find more rest areas in southwestern Germany. These impressive cranes' impressive formation flights are now a nice sight in the sky over Baden-Württemberg, especially from the end of October, when around 400,000 cranes from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe move south over the region.
Every year, different conditions for bird train brings with it. Factors such as food sources, breeding behavior or weather can influence the hike of the birds. Some types even prefer to remain in their breeding areas when the temperatures are mild enough and there is enough food. White storks are an example of birds that can find more feed at higher temperatures.
It is interesting to know that certain bird species often set off at night. Singing birds, for example, start their journey in the protection of the dark, usually between midnight and dusk. In the clear sky they are more difficult to catch for birds of prey, which ensures their survival during the train.
The migration of the migratory birds remains a fascinating topic that is followed by many nature lovers and bird watchers with great interest. The changes in behavior and adaptations to the environment are important aspects when understanding the ecological relationships. Zudem verdeutlicht die Beobachtung dieser Vögel, wie wichtig der Schutz ihrer Lebensräume ist. More information can be found at www.welt.de .
