Bathing will be dementia -friendly: New project relies on integration!

In Baden, the project was not launched for the time to make the city more dementia -friendly. Mayor Stefan Szirucsek and social councilor Angela Stöckl-Wolkerstorfer announced further measures together with the pilot partner, the traditional bakery Dermann. The aim of this initiative is to better integrate people with dementia diseases as well as older and impaired people into city life. This is particularly important, since around 20,000 people in Lower Austria are currently having dementia, a number that could increase duplicate by 2050.

In order to take into account the need for social participation, which is essential in every age, Dersmann has agreed to act as a pilot partner of the project. Master baker Michael Mann emphasized the importance of customer service and sensitivity in dealing with the diverse customers. Special tables with appropriate stickers should be reserved for older and dementia -suffering people, so that they always find a place to actively participate in public life. This initiative goes hand in hand with the endeavor to integrate the existing local companies more into the process and to open up new ways for local tourism and culture.

This commitment is illustrated not only by actions by Dermann, but also by the introduction of a quality badge. This badge is visibly attached to eleven locations in Baden to mark the companies that implement dementia -friendly standards. Social City Councilor Angela Stöckl-Wolkerstorfer emphasizes that it is important that society responds to the needs of older people and is committed to their integration. The city of Baden aims to create awareness through these initiatives and to promote an inclusive environment.
