Bird flu in Amstetten: all -clear after successful measures
After a worrying outbreak of bird flu in weirs in the Amstetten district, the state government of Lower Austria announced the all -clear. The state veterinary director, Christina Riedl, informed the ORF Lower Austria that there have been no new cases in poultry farms in the state. This positive news is hopeful, since the situation seems to be under control for the time being.
At the beginning of November, a total of five bird flu cases appeared in poultry farms around Amstetten. Due to the high risk of epidemics, the authorities were forced to take drastic measures, which led to the killing of around 200,000 chickens and turkeys.
