VCA Amstetten secures the first point despite a tight defeat against Hartberg

AMSTETTEN. After the VCA Amstetten Lower Austria remained without a point in the first game of the year, the second match in the Powerfusion Volley League men brought a counter to the Lower Austrian's account. The team delivered an exciting performance against the runner-up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, but had to give up with 2-3.

"We made pressure from the first minute and I felt that there would have been even more in it. Some of our young talents especially showed great performances today. After the defeat against Ried, you can feel an upward trend here," said Michael Henschke, the sports director of the VCA, after the game.

The first set game started the home side from Amstetten Stark. They quickly developed a small lead and kept the Styrian guests at a distance over the entire duration of the set. With a narrow 25-23 they ended the first set and took the lead with 1-0.

In the second sentence, however, the Hartberger turned up. They achieved a lead early on, and at 14-15 Amstetten offered the chance to compensate, which could not be used. Hartberg prevailed until the end of the sentence and equalized with 23-25.

The third sentence was characterized by hard fight. After the guests worked out a clear lead, the Mostviertler fought their way to 18-21. VCA coach Constant Tchoussi changed the young Austrians Alexander Spring and Robert Gavan, who brought a breath of fresh air into play. Nevertheless, the Hartberger 20-25 won and took the lead with 1-2.

The fourth sentence again offered gripping volleyball action. Hartberg was able to break away at first, but Amstetten came back, equalized and finally took the lead. With a final score of 25-21 they forced the decisive fifth set.

In the exciting tie break, the action was initially balanced. But in the final phase, the Hartbergers managed to set the crucial point and to win the sentence and the game with 13-15. Although VCA Amstetten lost the game, you can at least comfort yourself with your first point of the season.

Overall, the encounter showed that the VCA also recommended stronger opponents and made good progress. The young players seem to have a lot of potential, which awakens hopes for a positive course for future games.
