Molecules of memory: Venice's silent beauty in focus

Amstetten. On November 13th at 7.30 p.m. in the Amstetten town hall as part of a collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Amstetten association, the documentary "Molecules of Memory - Venice, as nobody knows" will be shown. The event offers the original Italian version with German subtitles.

The director Andrea Segre originally planned to shoot a documentary about the dangers in spring 2020 that threatened Venice through tourism and floods. However, the Corona pandemic mixed up and a strict lockdown was imposed. This special situation led to the waterways and alleys of the city, which were otherwise used so revitalized, were suddenly empty and peaceful.

A look at Venice's change

During his rotation, Segre is aimed at the still Venice. This leads him to immerse yourself deeply in his memories, especially to his father Ulderico, who, as a scientist and chemist, had great influences on him. His thoughts about the city are supplemented by the words of the few inhabitants, who, looking back on their childhood, reflect on the profound changes of the lagoon city and share their memories of an earlier Venice - far from the tourist flows.

In addition, Seil uses the material from his father's private archives, including unique Super 8 recordings, to take a look at the past decades. In combination with the sensitive voice of the director from the off and the sonorous compositions of the musician Teho Teardo, a very special atmosphere is created, which enables the viewer to have deep and emotional access to Venice.

The entire documentation proves to be a wistful declaration of love for the enchanting fragility, the fascinating character and the majestic dignity of the Serenissima. This cinematic journey not only promises a new look at one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but also an invitation, memories and the history of this unique culture.
