Celebration of faith: double anniversary with the Franciscans in Amstetten
Next Sunday, October 6th, the Franciscans of Amstetten present a very special festival that celebrates two significant anniversaries. On the occasion of the Francis Festival, which is dedicated to Saint Franz of Assisi, the 125th anniversary of the monastery church is also recognized. This church, which was badly damaged 11 years ago, now shines in new splendor and attracts the eyes of the visitors.
The heart of the festival forms the Holy Mass, which begins at 2:30 p.m. and is led by Father Stefan Kitzmüller from the Shalom monastery in Pupping. The service is musically supported by an ensemble under the direction of Max Gottschlich, which will certainly ensure a solemn atmosphere.
a festival for the whole family
After the service, everyone present is cordially invited to take part in a cozy agape. A colorful children's program was prepared for the little guests, which happily rounds off the afternoon.
Another highlight of the day is the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the famous “sun song” by St. Francis. This piece, which is filled with praise of creation and the creator, gains in current times, especially in current times when the topic of climate crisis is becoming increasingly pressing.
The Franziskusfest not only offers the opportunity to honor the spiritual tradition, but also to celebrate the commitment of the Franciscans for the protection and preservation of creation. The combination of celebrations and a deep, thoughtful moment becomes a special experience for all visitors. Every year people from the region come together to commit this important day together and strengthen the community spirit.
