Marco Odermatt: Third triumph in a row - small crystal ball secured!
Kvitfjell, Norwegen - Marco Odermatt wrote history again and secured the small crystal ball in the Super-G prematurely! The talented Swiss, who already shines as a world champion, has now won the title for the best Super-G driver of the season for the third time in a row. This was possible because his only remaining rival, the Italian Mattia Casse, could not compete due to an injury. Casse suffered a shifted break of the right elbow on Wednesday and has to undergo an operation, such as OE24 reported.
Theoretically,Casse would have had the opportunity to win with a deficit of 181 points, but in the event of only two outstanding races, this was extremely unlikely. The Austrian skier Vincent Kriechmayr is behind Odermatt with 205 points and therefore has no chance. This remarkable achievement underlines Odermatt's dominance in the Super-G and shows that he will remain a serious candidate in the coming season, as well as Bluewin noted.
