Thalheim bei Wels, Österreich - In the Carinthian Museum of Angerlehner, the double exhibition "countermovement" by Florentina Pakosta and "measurement of ways of being" by Claudia Hirtl will open on May 3, 2025. The ex-Albertina boss Schröder, who curates the first show, emphasizes the special architecture and charisma of the museum, which makes it a hotspot for contemporary art. Schröder thus corresponds to a long -term tradition in which the museum is an important place for innovative art projects that have social and cultural relevance. These exhibitions are groundbreaking because they present important feminist voices in art and thus promote dialogue about gender roles and identity.
The exhibition "Counter Movement" addresses the connection between two different working groups from Pakosta. The sarcastic assembly blades, which were created in the 1970s and 1980s, address male violence, while the abstract-geometric tricolors created since the 1990s reflect the devastating effects of this violence. Pakosta, which is considered one of the first and most important feminist artists in Austria, shows men's heads in their works, which are characterized by various attributes. This draws a clear connection to the structural violence that exist in society.
Florentina Pakosta and feminist art
Florentina Pakosta's artistic aesthetics and their thematic examination of the gender problem are part of a greater movement that became known as feminist art in the late 20th century. This art movement, which is linked to the second women's movement in the United States, deals with collective experiences and female identities. Artists such as Pakosta question conventional gender structures and contribute to a critical reflection on the relationships of power. Early pioneers such as Hannah Höch and Valie Export, which gave the important impulses for the feminist art scene, gave gender -stereotypical wikipedia reported.
Schröder also emphasizes the book new Pakosta, "apartment without walls", which contains strong short stories and deepens the topics of its artistic work. Six works from the collection of museum founder Heinz Angerlehner can be seen in the exhibition and reflect on the development and relevance of Pakostas create in today's art world.

Hirttl's works that include large-format tempera paintings are inspired by the Japanese philosophy and-in particular-from Kanji characters. These are deconstructed, overlaid and transformed to address questions about time, identity and “being”. Hirttl's work create poetic rooms and invite the audience to enter an artistic denial room that is constantly changing. Their reduced color pallets and conscious materials promote a deeper perception of the images. Both Pakosta and Hirtl are actively involved in the topics of gender identity and position themselves in the discussion about feminism and contemporary art. The relevance of their work is reflected in the social challenges with which women are still confronted. The contemporary context in which these exhibitions are presented is aimed at raising the votes of the artists and enabling sharper social discussions.
