Klimabonus 2024: Who still receives money and who has to wait?

Österreich - In autumn 2024, many Austrians have already received their climate monus of up to 290 euros. The payments were either transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries or sent by post. However, numerous citizens are still waiting for their payout, especially those who only reached the bonus in the second half of 2024. As the Ministry of Climate Ministry announced, the second payout round begins in spring 2025. From February 2025, the Austrians who were born in the first half of 2024 or moved to Austria will receive their claim if they are registered in the country at least 183 days, reported Kosmo.at.

Important details about payment

The amount of the climate monus varies depending on the region and depends on the expansion of public transport on site. Amounts between 145 and 290 euros are paid per adult, while children and adolescents under the age of 18 receive half of the regular amount. People who enjoyed the climate monus in 2024 or did not meet the required length of stay are excluded from the next payment, which increases the tension by the upcoming payments. According to the klimabonus.gv.at, the payments are underway by spring 2025, with a comprehensive examination of the claim for claims in late 2024. Over the year, over 600,000 people have already benefited from the bonus.

Special requirements lie in the claim: If someone is not recorded in time due to a move or in certain cases such as detentional cessions cannot meet the minimum amount of 183 days, a delay must also be expected here. The exact number of recipients for 2025 has not yet been determined, while the Klimabonus debate in the government is heated heated due to the tense budget deficit. The traffic light coalition comes up with pressure due to the high costs of 4.1 billion euros, which reinforces the discussions about the future system, as also reported by kosmo.at.
