Kelag starts educational offensive: Small researchers in the MINT area!

In the Villach technology park, an important cooperation agreement was recently signed, which aims to promote MINT formation for the youngest in Carinthia. Partners in this future -oriented project are the Kelag and their subsidiaries, who are committed to the Mini Educational Lab. Vice mayor and educational officer Sarah Katholnig said positively about this cooperation and emphasized its importance for the regional educational landscape. The Kelag managers Adolf Melcher and Christoph Herzeg emphasized the role of the discoveryist for children, which is to be promoted by exciting technology projects, developed by apprentices from Kelag.

The Mini Educational Lab is aimed at kindergarten groups from all over Carinthia and is intended to offer practical support in order to promote young talents in their creative and technical thinking. Thanks to the support of Kelag, the offer is not only expanded, but also secured in the long term. This is seen as a strong sign for regional promotion of young talent in the MINT area, which is of crucial importance for the future of formation of formation.

The 1st Carinthian Mint Forum took place in the Mini Educational Lab last weekend. The event was aimed at elementary teachers from Carinthian kindergartens who deal with MINT issues. The forum was supported by the Raiffeisen Landesbank Carinthia (RLB), the industrial association Carinthia (IV) and the city of Villach. The aim of the forum was to provide information about the MINT seal of approval and to promote the exchange of experiences.

The forum represents a further development of the "Sumsi research with" initiative, which has existed since 2016, which is supported by the RLB and the young industry Carinthia. As part of this initiative, 50 kindergartens in Carinthia have already been equipped with so -called research boxes that contain materials for discovering and experimenting. Manfred Wilhelmer, CEO of the RLB, handed over further of these research boxes during the forum and emphasized the importance of early promotion of MINT skills, especially to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in technical professions.

MINT formation as a key to the future

Gerda Sandriesser, Vice Mayor of Villach, underlined the outstanding role of elementary teachers and the need to get enthusiastic about the MINT seal of approval. The first Villach facility certified with this seal of approval is the International Daycare Center Villach, while the kindergarten Sonnenschein in Klagenfurt has been certified since 2017 and has carried out a cooperation project with the Makerspace in Klagenfurt.

Christoph Neumayer, General Secretary of the IV, pointed out the growing importance of technologies and MINT skills for society and illustrated that the STEM seal should make exemplary educational institutions visible. Because MINT formation not only promotes mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology, but also lies the foundation for the cognitive, emotional and social development of children.

These initiatives once again show that MINT formation is crucial for the economic future and the training of a new generation of specialists. School subjects can be made practical by experiments, projects and excursions, and surveys show that parents can contribute to the support of curiosity and reducing prejudices to enthusiastic about the MINT enthusiasm of their children. Therefore, the support of MINT is essential for the creation of an innovative and future -oriented educational landscape through various programs and cooperation between companies and universities.
