Schönsonntagmarkt in Wolfsberg: inner city celebration for all senses
The Schönsonntagmarkt in Wolfsberg relies on continuity and new accents. After the successful move from the traditional market area to the city center in 2022, the popular market will also take place in the urban environment in the coming year, from June 20 to 22, 2025. Mayor Hannes Primus and those responsible for the city, including the market officer Isabella Theuermann, are convinced of the decision to choose the city center as an event location.
"We never doubt that the market in the city is an enrichment for Wolfsberg. The move was the right decision," explains Vice Mayor Alexander Radl and refers to the increased number of visitors of around 30,000 last year. These positive feedback motivate the city to continue to pursue and further expand the concept. A consideration of the return of the Italian festival, which is to be celebrated in the form of an “Italian day” on the market Saturday, is particularly motivating for those responsible.
Italian flair on market Saturday
The planned Italian day will bring a piece of Mediterranean attitude to the city center to the citizens and visitors. Culinary delights, Italian music and appealing decoration should help make the day an unforgettable experience. "We invite all restaurateurs to offer their specialties so that the spirit of the Italian festival continues," said the Manermann. The return not only benefits the organizers, but also contributes to the revival of the city center.
Support comes from the Wolfsberg catering scene: Peter Moscan from the “Torwirt” is enthusiastic about the initiative. "It is important that the city center stays alive. We have many Italian dishes on the menu anyway and look forward to continuing this tradition," says Moscan, whose locally was the most popular inn in Carinthia and East Tyrol.
The decision to leave the Schönsonntagmarkt in the city center is generally received positively. Manfred Stampfer, operator of a popular driving business, emphasizes that the urban atmosphere for visitors is significantly more attractive: "The market in the city center has a special charm and therefore also works economically more economically for us," says Stampfer.
The well -known overnight farms of the area also expect positive developments from the Schönsonntagmarkt. Nicol Hecher from the traditional hotel Hecher reports: "We are usually well booked on the market weekends. We have many guests who come through the market into the city and in our café significantly more visitors than usual." Thus, many areas of the city benefit from this decision and promote the local economy.
The preparations for the 2025 Schönsonntag market are already in full swing. Those responsible are looking forward to an annual event that combines tradition with a new momentum and lives up to the Wolfsberg city center sustainably.
