Fatal knife attack in Villach: grief and turmoil in the city!
After a terrible incident in Villach, 23-year-old Ahmad G. was used to custody because of the urgent suspicion of murder. As ORF Carinthia reported, the accused is said to have started with a knife last Saturday, which led to a tragedy: a 14-year-old lost his life, while two more 15-year-old were seriously injured. A total of five people were injured, four of them had to be operated on, but are out of life.
The regional court in Klagenfurt announced on Wednesday morning that the arrest warrant was issued due to the risk of escape and action after Ahmad G. did not provide any information on the crime. The legally binding decision is initially valid until March 5, up to which an adhesion will take place, in which the continuation of the custody is decided, according to OE24
reactions and funeral march after the attack
The alleged perpetrator, an asylum officer, recently radicalized on the Internet and confessed to the terrorist organization of Islamic State (IS). This development has triggered discussions about a possible tightening of access rights to messenger services and social media platforms. In Villach there will be a funeral march on Wednesday evening with a subsequent service in the parish church of St. Egid to commemorate the victims of the cruel attack and to express the sympathy of the city.
