Parrot Picki saved in Villach: an animal adventure!

A dramatic animal rescue drama developed on March 12, 2025 in Villach when the main fire station was called for an extraordinary use. At around 5:30 p.m., the alarm report came that a flown -in parrot called "Picki" was caught in a tree at a height of about 15 meters. The bird had escaped its owner and strayed in a housing estate near the Drau in the Manhattan district, as fireworld.at

The first attempt to rescue with the aerial ladder turned out to be difficult because "Picki", probably frightened by other birds, suddenly flew to the nearby high -rise buildings. There he settled on a windowsill on the third floor. The firefighters lost no time and started a second rescue attempt. Together with the owner and a kescher, the team finally managed to capture the shy parrot and bring back to his lucky owner, reported Julian Tronegger, head of operations at the main fire station Villach.
