Meridional Impianti is expanding location in Villach: Future of Microelectronics

The Italian company "Meridional Impianti" plans to significantly expand its presence in Carinthia. The semiconductor supplier, who has been working in the industry for almost 50 years, recently acquired a property in Villach. A new company building is to be built here, which will include both offices and a workshop. Construction is scheduled for the end of 2025, but is still under the reservation of necessary permits.

Currently, “Meridional Impianti” in Carinthia employs five employees who come from Catania and another branch near Milan. In the first phase of the project, the company plans to hire around 20 new employees, depending on the order situation with further growth. The location in Carinthia is expected to develop as part of a technology network that could create useful synergies with local innovators and companies.

technology in focus

A decisive factor for the settlement in Carinthia was the support of Infineon, an important player in microelectronics. "Meridional Impianti" wants to use the close connection to technology clusters such as "Silicon Alps" and "Green Tech Valley" to benefit from further business opportunities.

The company's product portfolio ranges from the distribution and control of high-purity gases to engineering and maintenance services to sensors and electronics that are required for different industries. Particularly noteworthy is the interest in the development of systems to produce green hydrogen in order to make Carinthia a turntable for sustainable technologies. This strategic decision could significantly change the regional economic landscape and initiate new, innovative projects.

This not only relies on expansion, but also on a sustainable, future -oriented approach, which takes into account both ecological and economic aspects. It remains to be seen how the permits can be granted quickly in order to put the initiative into practice.
