In a solemn ceremony in the Klagenfurt town house, the Carinthian cultural journalist Michael Tschida is awarded the renowned "17th Carinthian Lyric Prize of Stadtwerke Klagenfurt". This honor, endowed with 5,000 euros, will be presented next Thursday and represents an important act of recognition for literary achievements.
Tschida, who lives in Graz and works as a cultural editor for the “Kleine Zeitung”, reveals that his joy about the price inspired him directly to take a blood pressure lowerer and then a “little joy of joy”. "This great literary competition brought me back to the density," he said in a message after he was informed of his award by jury member Josef Winkler. The author, who was born in Villach in 1963 and already wrote poems in his youth, had repeatedly found poetry over the years. On his first attempt to take part in the Carinthian Lyric Award, he was already able to win a recognition award. Now he crowns his efforts with the main prize.

A total of 120 texts stood by the jury's judgment, which worked anonymously and independently. Verena Schumanski, a Carinthian living in Vienna, took second place with her work and received 1,500 euros. Stefan Feinig from Feistritz earns third place, which is awarded 800 euros.
