Carinthia is investing 1.28 million euros for green waves in traffic

Carinthia is in front of a traffic turnaround! With a huge investment volume of 1.28 million euros, the traffic calculator is converted to the latest technology. This initiative, which is driven by the state government together with the cities of Klagenfurt and Villach, is intended to contain the much scolded "red wave" and create more "green waves" for commuting drivers. The traffic expert Martin Gruber (ÖVP) announced that much more green phases will be supported in the future, especially in the morning in the direction of the city and in the evening in the opposite direction. This will not only improve the flow of traffic, but also increase traffic safety, such as emphasized.

The modernization of the traffic calculator, which has been the backbone of traffic control in Carinthia since 2012, will go hand in hand with new technologies and a system update. So far, 190 of the 235 traffic lights in Carinthia have been coupled with the system, especially in Klagenfurt and Villach. But that's just the beginning. Future improvements should integrate additional traffic lights, which, according to Gruber's plans, could result in a drastic reduction in accident frequency in the urban area of ​​60 to 80 percent. These optimized traffic light circuits should not only make car traffic easier, but also focus on pedestrians, which increases traffic safety as a whole, as ORF Carinthia reports.

Efficient traffic management in focus

The entire plan is supported by an EU project and is an important step towards modern traffic management in Carinthia. The aim is to create a comprehensive network that intelligently linked the traffic light systems of the state road network. The initiative not only promises less traffic jams and time savings for drivers, but also a safe environment in road traffic. The new system will be able to send timely warning messages to the drivers. A real progress for transport in Carinthia - the anticipation for less red waves is great!
