Drama in Villach: Fire brigade freed 18-year-olds after a serious accident
A serious traffic accident occurred in Villach on the evening of October 25, 2024 when a car came off the road in a right curve and overturned. Around 11:15 p.m. a 17-year-old Villacher was traveling as a driver of a car, in which there were three other boys aged 16, 18 and 20.
In the result, the vehicle came off the route for reasons that have not yet been clarified and finally landed on the driver's side. This led to an extensive rescue operation of the local fire brigade. Both the fire department Villach and the Perau volunteer fire brigade were quickly on hand, supported by a team from the Red Cross and the police. "Due to the situation in the emergency call query, the Red Cross also moved out with an emergency doctor and the police with a large contingent of emergency services," said operations manager Harald Geissler from the main fire station Villach.

The emergency services arrived had to act quickly. The 16 and 20-year-old were able to free themselves from the badly damaged car. The 17-year-old driver was liberated by the first police officers while the 18-year-old made a special rescue operation necessary. The fire brigade used a spineboard to save the seriously injured young people over the trunk flap and then hand it over to the emergency services. All four occupants of the vehicle were injured and were transported to the LKH Villach after the first medical care by several ambulances.
