Next concert and Austropop background

The next concert of the Westbahnhof Combo will take place on August 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the main square in St. Veit, as part of the Harley Davidson Charity Tour.

The roots of the Austropop go back to the 19th century, when satirical theater and dialect writings became popular. The forefathers of the Austropop such as Johann Nestroy and Ferdinand Raimund created a basis for the music with their critical texts in the dialect, which later experienced their first major upswing in the 1970s by artists such as Wolfgang Ambros and Georg Danzer. In this flowering period, many dialect songs were written today, with hits like "Jö Schau" by Georg Danzer and "Man is a Sau" from the Worried Men Skiffle Group.

In the 1980s, bands such as the first general uncertainty and Falco contributed significantly to the internationality of the Austria. Rainhard Fendrich had a hit with "Strada del Sole" in 1981, which is still the best at concerts such as that of the Westbahnhof Combo. Keeping this tradition alive is an important part of creating the band and enables the roots of Austrian music to be celebrated and passed on.

In summary, it can be said that the success story of the Austropop, which has passed for decades and has shaped numerous artists, also remains alive through the performances of bands such as the Westbahnhof Combo.
