Stumbling block for Hermann Göschler: Memory of a brave Jehovah's Witness

In St. Veit, an important sign of memory is set: On December 1st, the first stumbling block will be moved in honor of Hermann Göschler, a Jehovah's Witness. Göschler had been directed towards the war and his refusal to support Hitler's war because of his negative attitude. The laying of the stumbling block in Lindengasse 2 is not only a memorial action, but also an expression of the processing of the dark chapters of history.

The official ceremony takes place at 3 p.m. and is accompanied by city representatives. Mayor Martin Kulmer and museum director Stefan Regenfelder call the citizens to take part in the commemoration at 6 p.m. in the town hall. Their appeals emphasize the importance of an active culture of remembrance that stands for humanity and tolerance.

The memorial event

In addition to laying the stumbling block, a commemoration will be held in the town hall courtyard from 6 p.m. This event would like to actively integrate the citizens and set an example. The voices of the city representatives, such as those of Mayor Kulmer, encourage the population to set a clear sign of respectful coexistence and against forgetting through their presence.

With the laying of the stumbling block, Hermann Göschler is devoted to a lasting memory that should encourage future generations to think about human values. Further information on the importance of this memorial action can be found at www.klick-kaernten.at
