Professional perspectives on site: Apprenticeship casting inspires young people

At the first edition of the apprenticeship casting in Klagenfurt, students had the opportunity to get in touch with potential employers from various school forms. The event was initiated by the Managing Director Jürgen Mandl from the Carinthia Chamber of Commerce and aimed to give young people an insight into different professional fields and to discover their personal strengths. "The casting gives young people the opportunity to talk to companies and explore possible career paths," says Mandl.

A total of over 1,000 one -on -one discussions were held in which various companies took part. Among other things, this includes the Fundermax company from St. Veit an der Glan, who is looking for young people in the areas of metal, electrical and process technology. Tourist companies, such as the rock cellar in Klagenfurt, also presented their training opportunities. This shows the young talents the variety of training opportunities in the region.

valuable impressions for the youngsters

The feedback from the students: inside was consistently positive. Larissa, a student of the PTS Klagenfurt, reports of the many interesting conversations that she could have. She noticed that it is important to find out about different professions to discover your own interests and talents. Her colleague Philipp, on the other hand, was particularly exciting about the information about the profession of metal technician because he plans to start an apprenticeship in this area.

The casting has not only proven to be enriching on the inside, but also for the companies that had the chance to get to know the next generations of specialists.

decline in apprentices

In the current situation, however, there is a growing concern because the number of apprentices in the region is declining. There are currently 2,037 young people in an apprenticeship, which represents a decrease of 3.8 percent compared to the previous year. This development makes the importance of such initiatives such as apprenticeship casting all the more obvious. The goal is to promote teaching as an attractive career jumping board and to encourage young people to actively strive for training positions.
