Serious accident in the tunnel: two workers seriously injured

at 2:45 p.m. there was a serious work accident in the Tauern-Schleusen tunnel, more precisely on kilometers 36.8. A rail-bound work platform collided with a work machine on track 1. The 30-year-old driver from Styria had overlooked the machine behind him, which led to this serious incident. Two Croatian workers aged 36 and 37 who were on the work machine were particularly affected.

After the accident, the two injuries were cared for as quickly as possible and then recovered from the tunnel. The rescue helicopter C11 and RK1 flew to the Klagenfurt Clinic and LKH Villach because they had suffered serious injuries.

The accident site was closed for several hours, while police officers and representatives of the labor inspectorate carried out a thorough investigation of the incident.
