Modern station optimization in Oberdrauburg: comfort for all travelers!

Oberdrauburg, Österreich - After only four months of construction, the Oberdrauburg train station shines in new splendor - now also barrier -free! For around 3.3 million euros, ÖBB, the state of Carinthia and the municipality invested in comprehensive modernization. Travelers benefit from a new central platform that can be easily reached via a ramp and was equipped with an innovative blind control system. These new paving stones with a groove -shaped surface help blind and visually impaired people to find access to the trains safely. The covered climb offers protection against the weather and is now 220 meters long, so that double pulling sets can also stop, such as gailtal-journal.at reports.

But that's not all! The entire equipment of the train station has been renewed - benches, waste containers and a new path control system ensure more comfort. The platform lighting and the loudspeaker system were also brought up to date. A new station forecourt with two bus stops improves accessibility for all passengers. In addition, 48 car, 40 bicycle and 10 moped parking spaces are now available, which makes it much easier for all road users to travel. According to dolomitenstadt.at , the completion of the greenery for spring 2025 is expected.

Franz Jank, regional manager of the ÖBB, emphasized that a modern rail infrastructure was crucial to move people to switch to public transport. Sebastian Schuschnig, State Councilor for Economic Affairs and Mobility, confirmed that with the investment of one million euros and a holistic approach, the Upper Carinthian Region should be made future -proof. Mayor Stefan Brandstätter welcomes the upgrading of the train station and thanks everyone involved for the successful implementation of the project.
