In Austria there is hope for a white Christmas, although the snow is in short supply this year and the festival is already at the door. According to Gerhard Hohenwarter, meteorologist at Geosphere Austria, there is a ray of hope through an American weather model. On his Instagram side, he reports that on Christmas Eve it could snow in the southern regions such as East Tyrol, Carinthia and Styria. This gratifying forecast comes at the right time for many, because the lack of snow ensures a modest Christmas mood for many. Nevertheless, Hohenwarter warns against the unreliability of the long -term weather forecasts, but emphasizes the spark of hope: "It is a straw that we can cling to the south here", as he puts it. Such forecasts are often one -sided, especially at a time when the weather has been mild in the past few weeks and snow has almost only fallen in the northern Alpine region.
