Zank for refugee numbers: Mayor Fundke demands fairer distribution

In the district of Passau, the Situation around the refugee people from Ukraine is tense. The district office has set the mayor of Bad Griesbach, Jürgen Fundke, a deadline to register the 35 Ukrainians who already live in place in the village. The deadline runs tomorrow. Fundke, however, is skeptical about the project and points out that a significant number of refugees already live in his community. There are currently 280 Ukrainians who are housed in a former hotel.

The mayor expresses that the distribution of refugees within the district is perceived as unfair. While many municipalities hardly or no refugee people are taking up, numerous are already housed in Bad Griesbach. Fundke calls for a fairer distribution, but still does not see itself able to register the new refugees. He indicated that the second mayor must now take on the task and that he is given a week for it.

Current challenges

Fundke believes that the existing registrations have already reached a limit. So far, he has not commented on the exact reasons for his refusal to advance the registration of the new refugees.
