Jubilee and tragedies: Feller separates, Noël wins in the slalom of Adelboden!

In the slalom competition in Adelboden, Tyrolean Manuel Feller caused a sensation on Saturday by gaining the best time in the first round and thus leaving the German Linus Straßer by 0.25 seconds. The second round took place in difficult conditions, since thick snowfall affected the view. In addition to Feller, Dominik Raschner also showed strong approaches, but he slipped off the slopes in the steep slope and could therefore not contribute to the rating. A total of seven Austrian skiers were in the final, including Fabio Gstrein, who achieved the best result for Austria, followed by Michael Matt, who was ninth, as the Vol.at

The highlights of the race did not remain without surprises: the leading Swiss Loic Meillard, who started with great expectations, was already eliminated in the first round. The Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath experienced a similar fate when he left shortly before the finish as a virtual leading. In the end, the Frenchman Clement Noel won, closely followed by Lucas Pinheiro Braathen from Brazil and Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway. While Austrian skiers did not come up with the podium overall, four were among the top ten, including Johannes Strolz in 15th place and Marco Schwarz, who took up his first slalom result this season with 25th place, so Sn.at .

The race illustrated the challenges in the current Slalom World Cup, where even favorites like Feller and Meillard cannot be sure to manage the route without errors. The upcoming competitions are therefore eagerly awaited, especially how the Austrian athletes will assert themselves in the further season.
