Aid organization ICO: 1.25 million euros for Christian projects in the Orient
In an urgent report, the initiative of Christian Orient (ICO) recognized the generous donations of around 1.25 million euros from 2024, which made it possible to implement over 60 aid projects, especially in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. ICO managing director Michlin Alkhalil explained that a large number of projects, such as the support of a church kindergarten in Damascus, can be attributed to the acute need to relieve the parents affected by poverty. Since there are no state free kindergartens in Syria, many parents rely on the help of programs such as the ICO. In addition, the organization has implemented comprehensive aid measures according to the devastating earthquakes in the region, which many families came into homelessness, as reported by Kathpress.
urgent help for the winter
With the approaching winter, the situation in the regions plagued by the war becomes even more dramatic. According to information from Christian Orient , many refugees in Lebanon are faced with the terrible problem of keeping their apartments warm and bringing their children through the cold winter months. The ICO endeavors to help these people by providing kerosene for the heating and warm meals. While a soup kitchen in Beirut provides thousands of war victims every day, financial support from donations is essential to maintain this vital help.
ICO has been working for the support of the Christian communities in the Orient for over 35 years and strives to help the needy, even in difficult times like this. Each donation is viewed as a valuable gift to mobilize the urgently needed help in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. The flood of auxiliary projects that affect both old people as well as children and adolescents remains in the foreground, while the organization is dependent on the further support of the public to continue their mission.
