Large opening in meetings: New sports facility inspires the citizens!
Treffen, Österreich - On June 1, 2025, the new sports and multi-purpose facility was ceremoniously opened in meetings. With an investment of almost five million euros, the municipality has created an important facility that is supposed to offer the public a wide range of sporting opportunities. Representatives of politics as well as numerous residents and local clubs, including the SV and the fire brigade, celebrated the occasion together.
The celebrations started extraordinary: State Councilor Daniel Fellner carried out a tandem jump to symbolically initiate the opening of the facility. He was also appointed honorary citizen of the community as thanks for his commitment. The festival was musically framed by the market music that underlined the mood of the day.
program and events
After the official opening, a diverse program was on the plan. At 12:30 p.m., the fire brigade competitive group meets women, followed by a football championship game of the U9 of the SV Ideal residential building against Wernberg B at 1:00 p.m. The sporting activities continued with further games and demonstrations until the afternoon:
- 2:15 p.m.: Championship game SV Ideal residential building 1 - Faakersee 1b.
- 3:00 p.m.: Demonstration of the fire brigade competition groups meet 1 and Winklern-Insöde 1.
- 4:15 p.m.: Football championship game U12 SV Ideal Housing - Landskron.
- 5:30 p.m.: Football championship game U14 SV Ideal Housing construction / Maria Gail - Rothenthurn.
investments in sports facilities
The opening of the sports facility in Treffen is a nice example of the commitment of the municipalities to modernize and expand their sports facilities. According to a study by the German Institute for Urban Studies (Difu), 59% of the municipalities see the investment deficit in sports halls as "serious" or "noteworthy". In an environment in which 94% of the municipalities have sports halls and 92% of sports fields, the creation of new facilities as in meetings is crucial to offer a wide range of sports activities.
The survey carried out as part of the "KfW Communal Panel 2025" shows that the urgent need for investment in this area is a common problem for many communities. After all, over half of the municipalities have their own outdoor pools, and 46% operate indoor pools. Nevertheless, the investment deficit remains a challenge and makes it difficult for the municipalities to keep their sports facilities open.
Overall, the opening of the sports and multi-purpose facility in meetings shows how important it is to invest in municipal sports facilities in order to bring both the local community together and to secure the sporting opportunities for all ages.
