Women's power in the Krampus run: tradition packed in female passion!
in Feistritz ob Bleiburg, Bad Eisenkappel and Bleiburg, the Krampus and Perchten groups in Advent are shown by a recently refreshing side: more and more women are joining these traditional groups. One of them is Jasmin Rader, who has been active at the Lords of Hell for 13 years. Her passion for the masked figures even led to her partner, the chairman of the group, married. "It's like a big family," she says, while emphasizing the significant role, the community plays for her. Rader had never encountered difficulties to integrate as a woman in this group, which connects them with consistently positive response from the audience. As she explains, the audience immediately notice the passion behind her performance.
from fear to passion
Yvonne Grubelnik, now the third season at the Perchtengruppe Bad Eisenkappel, reports that she originally came to the group through her son. Disguised as a witch, she feels welcome and integrated. "It is a great leisure activity for the whole family," she emphasizes proudly. Rebecca Rožman, who is now at the Village of Death group in the second year, also went through an interesting transformation. In the first year she acted as an angel, now she has found her scene as a female devil - a step that helped her overcome her original fear of Krampusen. She describes the reactions of the audience as surprising and gratifying, especially if they come behind the mask on the supposedly atypical representation of a woman.
This development is not only a remarkable trend, but also shows a cultural shift in traditional customs of customs. As an analysis of group communication suggests, such groups not only fulfill the function of personal identity, but also contribute to the preservation of cultural practices. The difference between the sexes could continue to blur, since more women get involved in these communities and thus create a new, dynamic interpretation of traditional customs. This is also seen as an expression of a broader social participation and visibility, which is important in the current context of social currents. Further insights into this cultural evolution and its relevance can be read in an in -depth article on jumpers.
