France's women's relay conquers World Cup gold in the biathlon!
At the current Biathlon World Championship in Lenzerheide, the French mixed relay set an impressive exclamation mark and defended its title! The quartet consisting of Emilia Jacquelin, Eric Perrot, Lou JeanMonnot and Julia Simon dominated the race, despite a fall and a penalty round. With a lead of 1: 13.8 minutes, they secured the gold medal in front of the Czech Republic, which won silver with nine loads, and the German team, which in an exciting competition reached the bronze, as XC-Ski.de reported.
The German team, consisting of Selina Grotian, Franziska Preuß, Philipp Nawrath and final runner Justus Strelow, performed strongly. After eleven loading, they asserted themselves on the podium and managed to reduce the pressure through this medal for the upcoming races. After the competition, one or the other tear of the relief flowed at Preuss: "You can tell that the pressure was there and it drops now", she revealed on ZDF, while Strelow spoke of the nerve -wracking experience as the final runner. Nawrath also emphasized Strelow's shooting skills, who decisively helped the team, as Laola1.at reported.
Austria just past the medal
Austria's team of women also impressed, even though they had to compete without the sick Anna Gandler. The domestic athletes, led by a strong performance by Lisa Hauser, only missed the precious metal by six seconds and were sensational in fourth place. Starting runner Lea Rothschopf initially stumbled, but thanks to the efficient skills of her teammates. But the last time it was shot was not quite enough, the Swedes passed and secured the bronze medal. This shows once again that the Austrian team is a serious medal candidate at full strength.
