In the current political landscape of Austria, the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) shows itself as a clear leader in the surveys. According to a current Lazarsfeld survey, which was carried out from May 5th to May 13th, the FPÖ reaches 34 % of the votes and thus remains in first place in the political ranking. An analysis of the current political trends shows that the traffic light coalition from the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS would have a clear majority in the 183-member National Council with 100 mandates in a national council election, but the FPÖ would probably win the election victory, even if it could not achieve an absolute majority.
Chancellor candidates and electorate
Herbert Kickl receives 26 % of the votes in the Chancellor's question. In comparison, ÖVP Chancellor Christian Stocker and Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler come together to 25 %. In a broader comparison of the party landscape, another survey by politpro that the FPÖ is currently 33.1 %, followed by SPÖ with 21.3 % and ÖVP with 21.2 %. The NEOS reach 10 %, while the Greens come to 9.1 % and the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) (KPÖ) with 2.7 % and other parties with 2.6 %.
With regard to government formation, parties need at least 92 of the 183 MPs to achieve a majority. The political distribution shows a dominance of right -wing parties with 108 MPs compared to 57 left -handed MPs. The current Federal President is Alexander Van der Bellen, while Christian Stocker held the role of the Chancellor.
