Fire brigade Lienz in action: Dramatic exercise saves life in Peggetz!

On Wednesday evening, May 23, 2025, the Lienz fire brigade carried out a demanding exercise in the truck workshop of Oberdrautaler Transporte in Peggetz. The mission was coordinated by the trainers Hans-Jürgen Saiger and Thomas Mühlmann and represented a realistic scenario: a fire had broken out during welding work. In the smoky building, several people had to be searched and saved, while a person was also trapped under a fallen forklift.

As part of this exercise, the focus was on various operational tactics and the efficient use of resources. The application order included the recovery, an internal attack with respiratory protection and the securing of the water supply by laying a relay line from the Drau to the freight forwarder. An obstacle was the intake point, which was blocked by an illegally disposed car.

diverse tasks

The firefighters used a variety of techniques during the exercise. This included cooling gas bottles, the structure of water cannons and the rescue of injuries. Dolomitenstadt video reporter Nils Klinger was on site and documented the various activities during the exercise.

A central part of the training, as described in the theory of fire fighting, is the need for a graded training for prospective jet pipe drivers. The goals of fire fighting not only include deleting flames, but also preventing the spread and limitation of damage. The firefighters have to work with suitable extinguishing technology, extinguishing devices and funds as well as well -thought -out extinguishing tactics. In order to meet these requirements, various training modules are necessary in accordance with the recommendations of fire brigade training, which must be continuously developed in order to guarantee the optimal handling of fires.

expanded operational tactics

An important aspect of rescue in fire inserts is the tactical approach to searching and saving people. According to the manual of Jan Südmersen for the aim of search and rescue operations, various steps and techniques are necessary in order to be successful in an emergency. This ranges from the exact exploration of the situation to the implementation of rescue measures in the inner attack and via ladders.

Thus, the exercise not only addresses practical aspects of fire fighting, but also the strategic planning and implementation of rescue missions that are of crucial importance for the safety of the emergency services and the data subjects.

Overall, this use shows how important continuous training and exercises are for the fire brigade in order to be optimally prepared in an emergency and save lives. Further information on the individual details and aspects of fire fighting can be found in the published training resources of [Use practice] (http://etertpraxis.org/foliensaetze/suchen-und [Fire Brigade training] (https://www.feuerwehrausbildung.de/ausfildfilden/ibbk-intelligente-brandbekabrag-ein- training concept/grundlagen/526-2/brandbeka-- theory/).

As the exercise demonstrated, firefighters are able to act under demanding conditions and to ensure that the risk of fires is contained in good time.
