Festival Olala: Two sisters honor their father's legacy!

Lienz, Österreich - Elisa and Theresa Mutschlechner continue the life's work of their late father Hans Mutschlechner by organizing the international street theater and cabaret festival Olala. The festival will take place in Lienz from July 22nd to 26th, 2025 and is an important part of the cultural scene in East Tyrol. This year artists appear: inside from 16 countries, with a total of 32 groups being won for this year's edition, including numerous Walkacts. The sisters have been involved in the festival since childhood, but only took responsibility after the sudden death of their father on the opening day of the festival last year.

With a lot of commitment and passion, the two sisters have put together the festival program. "There is a lot of Mister Olala this year," she emphasize and refer to the important program items, including the appearance of the French group "Les Choses de Rien", which present their show "L’Ahbell" in an impressive 12 meter high metal construction. Elisa, who works as a project manager in Salzburg, and Theresa, who works as a teacher in North Tyrol, not only had to deal with creative but also logistical challenges.

extensive program and big preparations

The planning of the festival requires years of contact with artists: inside and a careful organization. The sisters recruited new artist collectives at a street theater festival in Belgium and on social media. It is a challenge to organize everything in good time and as part of the budget, which is around 200,000 euros for Olala 2024 and is mainly worn by the city of Lienz and TVBO Osttirol.

A highlight will be the performance "A Ciel Overt" of the French group "Cirque Aital" on July 22nd and 23. Other attractions include performances by the "Brave Space" by "Aloft Circus Arts" from the USA and the Austrian premiere of "La Gran Temmesta" of the Spanish group "Efimer" on July 26th and 27th at Bruck Castle. The festival will take place in different locations, including the IDM site on Ebnerfeld, the Lienz city center and Bruck Castle, where light, fire and laser shows round off.

unique atmosphere and artistic diversity

AM Ebnerfeld is created with a tent city with several large tents in which the spectators can experience the diversity of the street theater. Pre -annual stage shows, children's programs and fanfares are on the plan in the city center, while the larger events in the tent and at Bruck Castle are connected with an admission price. The Iselkai is also used to offer visitors opportunities to relax and to fascinate with light installations in the evening.

The last checks and team letters are pending in the final preparation week. Elisa and Theresa are optimistic and hope for good weather. "We learned to work flexibly and solution -oriented," they say. In addition, you have developed a greater appreciation for your father's life's work, which led to a closer sibling. The sisters are planning to continue the festival in the coming years and to continue developing continuously in order to keep the tradition of the festival alive.

The Olala Festival not only shows an impressive variety of performances, but also stands for the passion and dedication of the Mutschlechner sisters. It is a celebration of life, theater and the community in East Tyrol, which shines far beyond the regional borders.
